The firm is part of The Messina Group, a leading Washington D.C.-based strategic consultancy.
We are looking for a Communications Manager to join our growing team and contribute to our dynamic blockchain & Web3 practice. This position reports to the Partner level and works closely with the entire Greenbrier team. The role involves the day-to-day management of blockchain & Web3 client accounts – not only serving as a primary client point of contact but also setting the overall strategic direction of accounts.
It’s a hands-on role requiring the development and execution of earned media strategies, industry thought leadership initiatives, external content, public affairs campaigns, and crisis communications for an array of industry-defining clients. We’re looking for a versatile candidate with experience and proven success in blockchain and Web3 communications.
This is an exciting opportunity to own and execute ideas from start to finish, work with a talented team of communications professionals in a fun and values-driven environment, and work within an industry that is shaping our future. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer, driven, creative, and have the composure to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- End-to-end client account management, including driving account strategy, serving as a key client point of contact, leading meetings, owning workstreams and results, managing client logistics, and overseeing and directly contributing to day-to-day client execution;
- Full cycle media relations around client announcements and proactive press initiatives, including reporter outreach, interview and remarks preparation, interview staffing, and story placement;
- Overseeing and directly contributing to key client deliverables, including blog posts, op-eds, newsletters, press releases, internal audits, competitor research, and policy and regulatory research and analysis;
- Overseeing and directly contributing to conference and awards submissions, client podcast and broadcast appearances, presentations and original content, and staffing clients at associated events;
- Crisis management as needed, including the execution of proactive and reactive communications strategies on behalf of clients;
- Executing public affairs campaigns in markets across the U.S., helping clients achieve regulatory and policy goals;
- Collaborating with colleagues across the entire organization to gain and share knowledge, contribute to company-wide goals, initiatives, and processes, and work cross-functionally with other teams to drive client and firm success.
Required skills and experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of relevant experience in communications and public affairs – with at least a portion of that experience being in the blockchain & Web3 space;
- Working knowledge of the blockchain industry;
- Media relations experience with strong relationships and proven results;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Proficiency in standard workplace software, such as Slack, G-Suite, MuckRack, and Meltwater (or similar platforms).
Preference will be given to candidates with these professional traits:
- Excellent intuition and the ability to think outside the box when it comes to driving client strategy and success;
- Experience working in a team environment and collaborating with managers and peers;
- Strong operational and scalable process-building capabilities;
- Intrinsically motivated candidates with effective time management, organizational, and prioritization capabilities.
